Employees of Provident Bank recently volunteered their time at Junior Achievement of New Jersey, a nonprofit organization providing a series of business, economics and life-skills programs to enhance the education of young people, through their JA Finance Park® program at New Brunswick High School.
“Junior Achievement wouldn’t exist without volunteers and outstanding partnerships such as Provident Bank,” said [Joy Isabelle, JA Finance Park Manager]. “Through their volunteerism at JA Finance Park®, 57 high school students received a program that will help empower them to own their economic success.”
Over the course of two days, a total of 15 Provident employee volunteers led students on a guided online class on tablets in which they received a life scenario including a job, salary, and family situation to use as the basis to learn how to construct and adhere to a personal budget.
The time spent with the students, in tandem with the in-class curriculum prior to their visit, provided each student more than 18 hours of financial literacy education at no cost to the schools and their families.
“The feedback we received from the students spoke volumes,” said Jim Christy, Board Member, Junior Achievement and Chief Risk Officer, The Provident Bank. “It was truly a rewarding experience for the volunteers to leave such a lasting impression on the students by helping them gain the business and financial skills necessary for economic success.”
