The Provident Bank recently hosted a costume collection and Halloween party at Easton Area Neighborhood Center (EANC). The fundraising effort generated more than 20 Halloween costumes for the moms, dads and kids of the ASPIRE Teen Parenting Support Program, an evidence-based teen parent support program that provides individualized case management through mentorship programs, family counseling and time and money management to obtain adequate housing, healthcare and childcare.
“Easton needs to be ready for some of the cutest and some of the scariest trick-or-treaters of the year thanks to Provident Bank! The costumes they provided for the children of our teen parents and our shelter families met every child’s expectations,” said Judy Matthewson, executive director of EANC. “And, with the help of bank employees, these children learned exactly how to be careful and grateful tricksters at our party.”
In addition to a costume collection, Provident Bank employees teamed up with students from Lafayette College to hold a practice “trick-or-treat,” where parents and children learned about Halloween safety and etiquette. New moms and dads also practiced maneuvering costumes with strollers, car seats and diaper bags.
“I always try to live by Gandhi’s quote, ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world’,” said Melissa Hammer, manager of Provident Bank’s Phillipsburg branch. “And there is so much hope for positive change when you support and nurture a child.”
The Easton Area Neighborhood Centers, Inc. is a caring non-profit community-based agency working towards improving the quality of life of low to moderate income individuals and families through supportive services and education. Their goal is to assist clients in attaining independence and self-sufficiency.
